The assassination was approved by the three-man Lehi 'center': Yitzhak Shamir, Natan Yellin-Mor, and Yisrael Eldad

Yitzhak Shamir

Yitzhak Shamir
was Prime Minister of Israel from 1983 to 1984 and again from 1986 to 1992.

In 1941 Shamir was imprisoned by British authorities. After Stern was killed by the British in 1942, Shamir escaped from the detention camp and became one of the three leaders of the group in 1943, reforming it as "Lehi". During his tenure, the Lehi was responsible for the 1944 assassination of Britain's minister of state for the Middle East, Lord Moyne; an assassination attempt against Harold MacMichael, the High Commissioner of the Palestine in the same year.

and the 1948 assassination of the United Nations representative in the Middle East, Count Folke Bernadotte "an obvious agent of the British enemy" who was seen by Shamir and his collaborators as an anti-Zionist and "an obvious agent of the British enemy"

and "an obvious agent of the British enemy". Some trick.

Shamir and his fellow underground fighters greatly admired the Irish Republican and sought to emulate their anti-British struggle. Shamir himself took the nickname "Michael" for Michael Collins.

This is to besmirch the good name of an Irish Patriot and give this assassin some undeserved legitimacy.

Lehi "Fighters for the Freedom of Israel" was an armed underground Zionist faction in the Palestine Mandate that had as its goal the eviction of the British from Palestine to allow unrestricted immigration of Jews and the formation of a Jewish state.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lehi_%28group%29
Lehi was described as a terrorist organisation by the British authorities, the mainstream Yishuv, and by the United Nations Ralph Bunche. The group was known after its first commander Avraham Stern as the Stern Group or Stern Gang, a denunciatory label originated by the British.

Lehi or Stern was he original Middle East TERRORIST group led by a future Israeli prime minister.
